PAST PROJECTS

Rise Up was a social action project that prioritized addressing mental health aimed at bolstering the confidence, self-esteem, and
resilience of young people. Its goal was to empower them to aspire for greater achievements and engage in positive social action.

By supporting children and young people (aged 8-21), it aimed to foster their development and success within society, ultimately
improving their educational and employment opportunities while breaking the cycle of poverty and deprivation, the projected benefited 176 young people, with 10 people leading to volunteer opportunities as well as 9 young people into paid employment  With 20 people benefiting from Assertive, confidence and mindset training and 3 people successfully achiveing a SIA qualification. 

The Let’s Grow in Covid (LGC) project was a new initiative that spanned 12 months and aimed to address issues that was raised during the COVID period.

The project focused on increasing awareness about  the livings crisis and social issues raised during this time and providing support for service-users aged (12- 25). The aim was to help them build confidence, develop new skills, and establish peer networks.

Recreational activities served as a means to alleviate stress, offered an enjoyable way to exercise and maintain overall well-being, and facilitated the formation of new friendships.

The TRAILBLAZER project enabled the deprived children of Bradford to actively engage in hobbies and imaginative endeavors to enhance growth and wellbeing over a period of 12 weeks.

Its overarching goal was to promote a healthy lifestyle, combat obesity, introduce leisure and sports activities, reduce social isolation, and alleviate childhood boredom. The project specifically targeted Muslim children from South Asian backgrounds who attended supplementary education (Mosques) and did not receive the recommended 60 minutes of daily or even weekly exercise.

Following consultations with the youth board, HYA developed a comprehensive program tailored to the young people of the Manningham community.

The project successfully delivered 36 sessions of multisport and recreational activities.

During our summer 6-week playscheme project, we organized a variety of exciting activities to keep children entertained and engaged. We took over 60+ people to Alton Towers for a thrilling day out. Additionally, we ventured with 30+ individuals to Ilkley Moor, a site of special scientific interest and part of the South Pennines Special Protection Area, offering a memorable outdoor experience. Indoor trampolining proved to be a hit, attracting over 90+ children for an exhilarating and physically packed adventure. Our community field hosted a BBQ and Archery event, fostering a sense of togetherness through action-packed activities. Bowling competitions were another highlight, where children competed against each other and enjoyed popcorn and a relaxing movie afterwards. Lazer tag was a favorite activity, with teams battling against each other, and over 60+ participants joining in the excitement. Altogether 100 + people

The Sports Works 4 All project was a 12-month initiative that sought to empower women, girls, and young children (aged 8-19) to actively participate in a variety of sporting activities, including netball, swimming, football, street cricket, and Boxercise. The project aimed to provide numerous benefits to young people and service-users by encouraging them to engage in daily sports activities.

While specifically targeting South Asian and refugee women, Sports Works 4 All was open to all communities in Bradford, promoting diversity and inclusion.

Through the project, participants had the opportunity to access and enjoy a wide range of sports, fostering physical fitness, teamwork, and overall well-being.
